President Bola Tinubu has felicitated Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi on his re-election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council, hailing it as a proud moment for Nigeria.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, on his re-election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council.
In a statement on Friday, the President described Adeniyi’s re-election as a proud moment for Nigeria and a strong recognition of the country’s growing influence in global customs administration and trade facilitation.
Tinubu praised the Customs boss for his visionary leadership, professionalism, and outstanding contributions to strengthening international customs cooperation, capacity building, and the implementation of modern trade procedures.
Adeniyi was re-elected during the ongoing sessions of the WCO Council in Brussels, Belgium, for a second term, further elevating Nigeria’s profile on the global stage.
The President expressed confidence that Adeniyi would continue to provide effective leadership at the WCO while advancing Nigeria’s strategic interests in trade, revenue generation, border security, and regional integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
This achievement is seen as a major boost to Nigeria’s soft power and international standing in global economic governance.
