Tinubu, Adeleke Hold Closed-Door Meeting at Aso Rock Villa
President Tinubu receives re-elected Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke at Aso Rock for a closed-door meeting.
President Bola Tinubu is meeting with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Adeleke arrived at the forecourt of the Aso Rock Villa at about 5:25 p.m. on Thursday, dressed in a navy-blue traditional outfit and carrying a walking stick.
The governor arrived in a black Toyota Land Cruiser SUV alongside the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
The meeting marks Adeleke’s first known engagement with President Tinubu since his re-election in last Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.
Tinubu had earlier personally congratulated Adeleke on his victory, describing the outcome as an assurance that democracy would continue to flourish in Nigeria.
The President also urged the governor to unite residents of Osun State, regardless of their political affiliations or choices during the election.
Adeleke’s visit to the Presidential Villa comes amid heightened political interest following the outcome of the Osun governorship poll, in which the governor secured another term in office.
Several other Osun State officials were also seen arriving at the Villa shortly after the governor.
They included the Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; a member of the council, Sunday Bisi; the Chief of Staff to the Osun State Governor, Akinleye Kazeem; and the member of the House of Representatives representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Bamidele Salam.
The purpose and agenda of the closed-door meeting were not immediately made public as of the time of filing this report.
The meeting is, however, expected to provide an opportunity for discussions between the President and the re-elected governor on issues concerning Osun State and the wider political landscape.
Further details of the discussions are expected to emerge after the meeting.
