‘They Want to Wipe Out Christians From Plateau’ — Rev Dachomo Cries Again to Trump

The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) for Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has renewed his appeal to United States President Donald Trump to intervene in the security crisis affecting parts of Plateau State.

Speaking during the mass burial of 22 victims killed in an attack on Kawel village in Mushere Chiefdom, Bokkos Local Government Area, the cleric alleged that Christians in the state were being deliberately targeted and described the killings as a systematic attempt to eliminate Christian communities.

The victims were reportedly killed during an attack on June 21, prompting widespread grief across the affected communities.

In a post shared on his X account on Thursday, Dachomo urged President Trump and the international community to pay attention to the security situation, warning that further delay could expose more rural Christian communities to deadly attacks.

Addressing mourners during the burial ceremony, the visibly emotional cleric said the latest killings reinforced his belief that the violence was not random.

“There is genocide of Christians in Nigeria, and that is the plain truth. That is why I keep calling on President Trump to intervene. Any further delay will see Christians completely wiped out from Plateau State,” he said.

Dachomo stated that many Christian communities had lost relatives, homes and places of worship due to repeated attacks and argued that the international community should no longer ignore their plight.

He stressed that every victim deserved justice, protection and recognition, while calling for greater accountability from authorities.

The cleric also maintained that every individual has the right to life and lawful self-defence when confronted with imminent danger, emphasising that his appeal was for justice, security and lasting peace rather than revenge.

Reflecting on the burial, Dachomo described it as one of the most painful moments of his ministry.

“Today was one of the most painful days of my ministry. With tears in my eyes and a heavy heart, I stood before 22 coffins as I conducted the mass burial of our brothers and sisters in Christ,” he said.

He described the victims as fathers, mothers, children and devoted Christians whose lives were cut short by violence.

Questioning the continued attacks, Dachomo asked how many more innocent people would have to die before decisive action was taken to restore peace.

He concluded by praying for the bereaved families and expressing hope that lasting security would eventually return to Plateau State.
