President Tinubu Pledges Victory Over Terrorists and Economic Hardship
Represented by SGF George Akume at a Democracy Day church service in Abuja, President Tinubu vowed that his government will neither capitulate to criminal intimidation nor relent in its efforts to alleviate the country's current economic hardships.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured the nation that his administration will never surrender to the violent intimidation of terrorists, bandits, or any form of criminal syndicates, while simultaneously pledging to intensify federal interventions aimed at easing the severe economic hardships confronting ordinary citizens. The high-level assurance was formally delivered on behalf of the president by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, during the National Inter-Denominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja. The solemn religious gathering formed a primary part of the state activities arranged to mark the 2026 Democracy Day celebrations, drawing top government functionaries, military top brass, and prominent clerical authorities from across the federation.
The presidential address sought to directly confront the dual anxieties currently gripping the populace: widespread rural insecurity and a highly volatile cost-of-living crisis. Tinubu emphasized that the security agencies have been given clear, uncompromised mandates to aggressively dismantle criminal networks across all geopolitical zones, insisting that the sovereignty and internal peace of Nigeria are non-negotiable. Turning to the economy, the president acknowledged the deep financial strains facing households due to necessary structural adjustments, promising that targeted relief measures, agricultural subsidies, and infrastructure investments are being accelerated to stabilize domestic prices. He concluded by urging religious bodies and the wider citizenry to maintain faith in the democratic process, asserting that the administration's long-term blueprints would ultimately birth a highly resilient, secure, and economically prosperous nation.
