President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hosted the President of Madagascar, Michael Randrianirina, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to drive a fresh era of diplomatic engagement and economic collaboration between the two nations. The visiting Madagascan head of state arrived at the State House Forecourt at approximately 2:57 pm on Monday, where he was formally received with a brief reception ceremony led by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu. Following the initial welcoming protocols, President Randrianirina was escorted directly into the president's private office to commence high-level, face-to-face discussions aimed at expanding bilateral relations.
The high-profile courtesy visit is expected to significantly strengthen the geopolitical alliance between Nigeria and Madagascar, providing an institutional framework for both countries to align their interests on pressing continental matters. Official communications from the presidency indicated that the inner-office dialogue focused primarily on creating fresh avenues for mutual engagement, with a strong emphasis on driving regional development and accelerating economic growth across West and East Africa. By establishing closer ties, the two administrations aim to contribute directly to broader continental integration and foster shared prosperity in line with Pan-African development goals.
