Osun 2026: Defections No Threat to APC’s Victory — Oyintiloye
APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye says defections will not affect the party’s chances in Osun 2026 governorship election, insisting its strong grassroots structure remains intact and widely supported across the state.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has said recent defections from the party will not affect its strength or chances in the forthcoming August 15 governorship election.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye described defections as a normal feature of politics, especially during election periods, insisting they do not pose any serious challenge to the party’s structure.
He maintained that the APC remains the most formidable political force in Osun State, with a strong grassroots network across wards, polling units, and local government areas.
According to him, the party’s strength is rooted in its membership base, which he said remains largely intact despite the exit of a few individuals.
“Our party is built on a solid foundation that has endured for decades. We have a resilient structure, loyal membership, and an ever-expanding support base across the state,” he said.
Oyintiloye added that the emergence of Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s governorship candidate has further energized members and boosted morale ahead of the election.
He said Oyebamiji’s popularity, experience in public service, and acceptability among voters have strengthened the APC’s campaign momentum across the state.
“There is no community in Osun State today where the AMBO movement is not gaining momentum,” he stated, adding that the candidate’s support cuts across political, religious, and social divides.
The party chieftain expressed confidence that the APC will reclaim power in Osun State, noting that ongoing political realignments will not alter the party’s electoral prospects.
