North, Biggest Beneficiary Of My Reforms — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has said northern Nigeria is the biggest beneficiary of the economic and social reforms introduced by his administration since assuming office.

Tinubu made the statement while highlighting the impact of his government’s policies and investments across the northern states.

The President said his administration had deliberately implemented programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding economic opportunities and strengthening social development in different parts of the country, with the North receiving significant attention.

He pointed to investments in transportation, agriculture, energy, education and other critical sectors as evidence of his administration’s commitment to transforming the region.

Tinubu said the reforms were designed to create a stronger and more productive economy capable of supporting long-term development rather than relying solely on government spending and subsidies.

According to him, the removal of the petrol subsidy and other economic measures were necessary to redirect government resources towards productive investments and development programmes.

The President acknowledged that the reforms had created difficulties for many Nigerians, particularly because of increased living costs and inflation.

However, he maintained that the policies were necessary to reposition the economy and create a foundation for sustainable growth.

Tinubu said northern states had benefited from several federal government initiatives, particularly in agriculture and infrastructure, because of the region’s significant agricultural potential and large population.

He also highlighted efforts to improve road networks and transportation corridors linking northern communities with other parts of the country.

The President said the government remained committed to strengthening food production and reducing the country’s dependence on imported agricultural products.

He noted that increased agricultural production would create jobs, improve food security and strengthen the incomes of farmers across the country.

Tinubu also said his administration would continue to support states and local communities through interventions aimed at improving basic infrastructure and economic opportunities.

He urged Nigerians to remain patient with the ongoing reforms, saying the government’s objective was to build an economy that could provide greater opportunities for future generations.

The President said the reforms were already producing results in some areas and that the government would continue adjusting its policies where necessary to address emerging challenges.

He stressed that the ultimate objective was to create a more resilient Nigerian economy in which citizens could benefit from the country’s resources and economic growth.

Tinubu further called on political leaders and citizens to work together to ensure that the gains from the reforms were sustained.

He said the Federal Government would continue to prioritise investments that promote economic growth, improve living standards and strengthen national development.

The President maintained that the North remained central to his administration’s development agenda and would continue to receive attention as the government implements its reform programmes.
