Onuachu Scores As Super Eagles Surrender Late Lead In Poland Draw
Paul Onuachu was on target for Nigeria, while Terem Moffi also scored as the Super Eagles produced another strong attacking display despite missing several key players.
Paul Onuachu was on target for Nigeria, but the Super Eagles were denied victory after conceding a late equaliser in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Poland in an international friendly in Warsaw. The result extended Eric Chelle's unbeaten run as Nigeria coach but left the team frustrated after coming within minutes of a notable away win.
Nigeria took the lead through Terem Moffi and later restored their advantage when Onuachu found the net, with the visitors producing another encouraging display despite the absence of several key stars. The Super Eagles looked organised, dangerous in attack, and in control for large periods of the contest.
Chelle handed opportunities to a number of fringe players, including debutant Abdullahi Bewene, as the coach continued to assess his squad depth ahead of future competitive fixtures. Several players impressed, reinforcing the growing competition for places within the national team.
However, just as Nigeria appeared set to secure victory, Poland struck late through Przemyslaw Wisniewski, whose goal rescued a draw for the hosts and denied the Super Eagles a deserved win.
After the match, captain Wilfred Ndidi admitted Nigeria controlled much of the first half but became more cautious after the break, allowing Poland to grow into the game and eventually find a way back.
Despite the disappointing finish, the performance offered further evidence of the progress being made under coach Eric Chelle, with the Super Eagles continuing to show improved cohesion, attacking intent, and depth across the squad.
