The Nigerian Army has renovated the 81 Battalion headquarters and Commander's residence in Oyo State as part of efforts to improve troop welfare. Military authorities reaffirmed that the well-being of personnel remains a top priority for enhanced operational success.
The Nigerian Army has completed the renovation of the headquarters and the Commander's residence of the 81 Battalion in Oyo State, in a renewed effort to improve the welfare and working conditions of its personnel.
The renovation project, which forms part of the Army's broader infrastructure development drive, is aimed at providing a more conducive environment for officers and soldiers to discharge their duties effectively.
Military authorities, while commissioning the renovated facilities, emphasised that the welfare of troops remains a top priority, noting that well-motivated and adequately catered-for soldiers are essential to achieving operational success.
The renovated structures, which include the battalion headquarters and the official residence of the commanding officer, were said to have been upgraded to modern standards to enhance the comfort and efficiency of the personnel stationed at the base.
Speaking at the event, a senior military officer commended the leadership of the Nigerian Army for the giant strides being recorded in the area of infrastructure development across various formations and units of the Force.
"The renovation of these facilities is a clear demonstration of the Army's commitment to the welfare of its personnel. A comfortable and well-equipped working environment boosts the morale and productivity of our troops," the officer stated.
He noted that the Nigerian Army, under its current leadership, has continued to prioritise the welfare of officers and soldiers, recognising that their well-being is crucial to maintaining a high level of professionalism and combat readiness.
The officer further charged the personnel to reciprocate the gesture by remaining disciplined, dedicated, and committed to the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities of defending the territorial integrity of the nation and protecting lives and property.
He also urged the troops to take ownership of the facilities by ensuring proper maintenance and judicious use of the renovated structures to guarantee their durability and continued usefulness.
The renovation of the 81 Battalion facilities is part of the ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to upgrade infrastructure across its formations nationwide, in line with its vision of building a more professional, responsive, and effective fighting force.
The development was warmly received by personnel of the battalion, who expressed gratitude to the Army leadership for the gesture, describing it as a morale booster that would enhance their commitment to national service.
The Nigerian Army has continued to invest in infrastructure, training, equipment, and the welfare of its personnel as part of measures to strengthen its operational capacity in tackling the various security challenges confronting the country.
