Nigeria, Türkiye Partner on Digitisation of Mining Sector
Nigeria and Türkiye have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the solid minerals sector, focusing on digital mining systems, improved exploration, and regulatory reforms to boost efficiency and investment.
Nigeria and Türkiye have agreed to deepen cooperation in the solid minerals sector, with a strong focus on digitising mining operations, improving exploration systems, and modernising regulatory processes.
The agreement was reached during a recent bilateral engagement on the sidelines of the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit, where both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic and technical collaboration in mining development.
Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, said the partnership will enable the country to tap into Türkiye’s technical expertise in areas such as mining exploration, digital systems for licensing, training, and capacity building.
He noted that ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s mining sector are aimed at improving transparency, attracting investment, and making the industry more efficient and globally competitive.
Turkish officials, on their part, expressed readiness to support Nigeria’s mining transformation agenda, highlighting opportunities for investment and technology transfer in the sector.
The collaboration is also expected to strengthen regulatory systems, reduce inefficiencies in mining operations, and support Nigeria’s broader goal of diversifying its economy away from oil dependency.
