NANS Launches Nationwide Audit of TETFund Projects Across Tertiary Institutions
NANS has launched a nationwide audit of TETFund projects, setting up an independent committee to assess implementation, transparency, compliance, and impact across tertiary institutions within a 90-day period.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has inaugurated an independent nationwide committee to assess the implementation and impact of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) projects in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
According to NANS, the initiative is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and the effective utilisation of public funds allocated to education development. The committee, known as the Independent TETFund Intervention Project Assessment, Verification and Monitoring Committee, will evaluate ongoing and completed projects in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
The association said the committee will review project execution, compliance with approved standards, and the overall impact of interventions on teaching, learning, research, and institutional growth.
NANS noted that the assessment will involve engagement with students, institutional administrators, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive evaluation process.
The committee has been given 90 days to complete its assignment and submit a detailed report containing findings and recommendations. The report will guide NANS’ future engagements on education sector reforms and will also be forwarded to relevant authorities, including the Presidency and the Federal Ministry of Education.
National President of NANS, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, said the initiative aligns with efforts to strengthen accountability and ensure intervention funds achieve their intended objectives.
He urged tertiary institutions, TETFund officials, student leaders, contractors, and other stakeholders to cooperate fully with the committee to guarantee a credible and transparent assessment exercise.
The committee is chaired by Comrade Salahudeen A. Lukman, while Comrade Okereke Godson Bishop, Dominic Philip AVM, Odiahi Thomas Ikhine, Wande T. Ajayi, and Ibrahim A. Ibrahim will serve as members. Gambo Abubakar was named secretary.
