NAN MD Pledges Renewed Commitment To Ethical Journalism At 60
NAN MD Ali Muhammad Ali pledged renewed commitment to ethical journalism, thanking President Tinubu, and promising stronger institutional reforms, professionalism, and service delivery as he marked his 60th birthday.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, has reaffirmed his commitment to ethical journalism, public service, and institutional transformation as he marked his 60th birthday.
Ali said attaining 60 is not only a personal milestone but also a renewed call to dedicate himself more deeply to national service, humanity, and the advancement of responsible journalism in Nigeria.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership style and for entrusting key national responsibilities to Nigerians based on merit.
According to him, such confidence in professional competence strengthens his resolve to continue serving the country with greater dedication and integrity.
Ali noted that the birthday message he received from the President served as motivation to intensify his commitment to ethical reporting and institutional development within the News Agency of Nigeria.
He emphasized that journalism must continue to play a vital role in strengthening democracy by promoting truth, accountability, and public trust.
The NAN chief pledged to further align the agency’s operations with global best practices, ensuring that reporting remains factual, balanced, and in line with professional standards.
He also reiterated his determination to support ongoing reforms within the agency aimed at improving efficiency, credibility, and public confidence in news dissemination.
Ali said his vision is to leave behind a stronger, more credible, and more technologically driven NAN that can compete globally while serving national interests.
He added that ethical journalism remains central to national development, warning that misinformation and sensational reporting undermine public trust and democratic stability.
The NAN boss called on media professionals to remain committed to truth, fairness, and responsibility in their reporting as Nigeria continues to navigate complex social and political challenges.
He concluded by expressing appreciation to colleagues, family, and well-wishers for their support and goodwill messages as he celebrated the milestone age.
