NAF Airstrikes Hit Terrorist Logistics Base, Strongholds in Sambisa
The Nigerian Air Force says precision airstrikes in Borno State destroyed terrorist camps and logistics facilities in the Sambisa axis, killing several insurgents and disrupting their operations as military pressure intensifies across the North-East.
The Nigerian Air Force has intensified its counter-terrorism campaign in the North-East, carrying out coordinated airstrikes on suspected terrorist hideouts in Borno State. Military authorities said the operation targeted insurgent camps and logistics structures at Biramiri in the Gezuwa general area, within the wider Sambisa forest axis.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Ehimen Ejodame, the operation was launched after credible Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance reports confirmed the movement and activities of insurgents in the area.
Ejodame explained that the precision strikes successfully destroyed key facilities used by the fighters and neutralised several terrorists operating within the location. He noted that the bombardments formed part of ongoing military efforts aimed at weakening insurgent networks and denying them safe operational bases.
“The coordinated attacks destroyed key terrorist facilities and neutralised several fighters, further crippling the operational capacity of the insurgents,” he stated.
The Air Force spokesman added that sustained offensives across the Sambisa axis had continued to create fear, confusion and disorganisation among terrorist elements. According to intelligence assessments, many insurgents are now facing increasing difficulties in movement and coordination due to continuous bombardments targeting their enclaves and supply routes.
Ejodame further stated that the Nigerian Air Force was working closely with troops of Operation Hadin Kai and other security agencies to maintain pressure on terrorist groups operating in the region.
He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to protecting civilians and restoring peace across the North-East, stressing that operations would continue until insurgent threats were significantly reduced and stability returned to affected communities.
Security analysts say recent military operations across Borno and neighbouring states have increased pressure on insurgent groups that continue to stage attacks on communities and security formations. Residents in parts of the North-East have also expressed cautious optimism over the offensives, while calling on authorities to sustain intelligence gathering, civilian protection measures and humanitarian support for displaced families returning home.
