Kebbi: Hisbah Arrests 25 Youths in Hotel Raid Over Alleged Immoral Acts
Kebbi Hisbah operatives arrested 25 youths during a hotel raid in Argungu, saying investigations are ongoing and suspects will face due legal process.
Operatives of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board have arrested 25 youths during a raid on a hotel in Argungu Local Government Area over alleged involvement in immoral activities.
The Director of Shariah of the board, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed the operation in a statement issued on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to Kamba, the raid was conducted on July 3 as part of the board’s ongoing campaign to curb social vices and promote moral values across Kebbi State.
He said the operation resulted in the arrest of 25 suspects, comprising 12 males and 13 females, who were allegedly engaged in activities considered contrary to the state’s moral and legal standards.
“On July 3, the Kebbi Hisbah Board carried out a raid at a hotel in Argungu and successfully apprehended 25 suspects allegedly involved in immoral activities,” Kamba stated.
He explained that the operation formed part of the board’s broader mandate to maintain public decency, preserve societal values and promote peace and order across the state.
The Hisbah official assured that all the suspects would be investigated in line with the provisions of the law.
He added that anyone found culpable after the investigation would be subjected to the appropriate legal process.
Kamba stressed that the board remains committed to enforcing existing laws aimed at protecting public morality while ensuring that due process is observed in handling cases involving suspects.
He also warned hotel operators and owners of recreational facilities against allowing their premises to be used for activities that violate the law.
According to him, the board will continue to carry out routine surveillance and enforcement operations in collaboration with relevant security agencies to discourage criminality and other forms of social misconduct.
The Hisbah Board said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the arrests are ongoing.
It reiterated that its activities are intended to encourage responsible behaviour, strengthen community values and ensure that public spaces are not used for unlawful or immoral purposes.
The latest operation is one of several enforcement exercises recently carried out by the Kebbi State Hisbah Board as it intensifies efforts to address social vices and uphold public order in different parts of the state.
