Joe Igbokwe Rejects Online Attack Rumours, Blames Ladipo Market Hostility on Party Affiliation

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has firmly dismissed viral social media reports claiming he was physically assaulted by an angry crowd in Lagos, though he maintains the aggressive hostility directed toward him was entirely politically motivated. Speaking directly about the incident, the Lagos APC stalwart emphasized that there was no physical mob attack and that absolutely nobody laid a hand on his body. He explained that a rowdy group simply began shouting and making a lot of noise when they spotted him, which prompted bystanders to step in and try to calm the situation down.

Recounting the sequence of events, Igbokwe explained that he had visited the popular Ladipo spare parts market in Lagos to purchase mechanical components when some traders and local residents recognized his face. The atmosphere began to shift after he finalized his purchase and returned to his vehicle to fit the new part, with individuals pointing fingers and muttering comments in his direction. As the crowd began to swell and advance toward him while chanting his name, Igbokwe chose to ignore the provocation and quietly retreated to a nearby shop owned by a personal friend, who immediately left to alert the market's leadership before Igbokwe safely drove out of the area.

Reflecting on the deeper motives behind the confrontation, Igbokwe attributed the aggressive reception directly to his political alignment and his highly vocal stances on national issues. He suggested that certain factions harbor deep-seated resentment toward him because he is a dedicated member of the APC and openly opposes the specific brand of regional politics they choose to play. Drawing parallels to past historical events, he lamented that despite his sincere intentions to offer constructive advice based on lessons learned from the Nigerian Civil War, many individuals choose to view his public commentary as antagonistic, ultimately treating him as an enemy or a saboteur rather than an ally.
