Insecurity: We Will Not Bow To Terror, Sanwo-Olu Urges Nigerians To Remain United
Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged Nigerians to remain united against insecurity, support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security forces, and maintain faith in the nation’s ability to overcome adversity.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on Nigerians to remain united and resolute in the face of rising security challenges, insisting that the country will not surrender to terror or allow criminal elements to undermine its collective strength.
In a statement titled “We Won’t Bow to Terror,” Sanwo-Olu expressed concern over recent security incidents in parts of the country, noting that such developments have understandably generated anxiety among citizens.
The governor, however, urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country, stressing that moments of difficulty require unity, patriotism, and unwavering support for the nation’s leadership and security institutions.
According to him, Nigerians must stand together behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and members of the armed forces who continue to confront threats to national security.
“Recent security incidents in parts of our country have understandably generated concerns amongst citizens. But moments like this in our national life require that we remind ourselves of our national character as a people. We are Nigerians. Our will is strong and our spirit is unbreakable,” he stated.
Sanwo-Olu noted that terrorists and other criminal elements do not discriminate based on political affiliation, religion, or ethnicity when carrying out attacks, adding that Nigerians must therefore rise above partisan interests in the collective fight against insecurity.
He stressed that every life lost to violence is a tragedy and called for solidarity with communities affected by insecurity across the country.
The governor also urged Nigerians to keep victims of violent attacks in their prayers, particularly the teachers and schoolchildren abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He said the nation must continue to support affected families while encouraging security agencies in their efforts to secure the release of those still in captivity.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that Nigeria possesses the resilience and strength required to overcome its current challenges.
“In trying moments like this, Nigerians must never lose faith in our nation or in our collective ability to overcome adversity. We are Nigerians. The seed of greatness lies within each and every one of us,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed his belief that national unity, determination, and cooperation remain critical to defeating insecurity and building a safer nation for all citizens.
