INEC Enrolls Upward of 11,800 Unregistered Citizens to Voting Rosters in Imo State
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully registered over 11,800 new voters in Imo State during its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) drive.
The Independent Electoral National Commission (INEC) has officially added more than 11,800 newly qualified citizens to the comprehensive voter register in Imo State. The development marks a key update in the electoral body's continuous voter enrollment initiatives designed to expand franchise accessibility and maximize civic participation ahead of upcoming electoral exercises.
The precise registration statistics were made public by senior state executives of the commission during a structured operational briefing evaluating sub-national registration trends.
According to the commission’s database, the successful expansion of the voter population is the direct result of targeted, grassroots-level Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercises. These operations actively deployed personnel and biometric infrastructure to remote local government areas and higher education hubs to ease accessibility hurdles for first-time voters and young adults who had recently attained legal voting age.
“Our local operational units have successfully captured and verified over 11,800 new registrants across our various municipal quarters in Imo State,” the commission representative announced. “This upsurge reflects a re-energized civic consciousness among the populace, and we are working diligently to clean the database and eliminate duplicate entries using our biometric filtering systems.”
INEC further disclosed that alongside the fresh enrollments, the commission processed thousands of administrative applications requesting inter-state permanent voter card transfers, replacement of defaced or lost voting cards, and data corrections for existing voters.
The electoral umpire concluded by urging the newly registered electorate to remain patient while their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are systematically printed and distributed to their respective local government offices, reminding stakeholders that a verified and robust voter register is the primary baseline for delivering transparent and credible polls.
