Firm Raises Concern Over Missing Court File in Ojukwu Property Dispute

Ojukwu Transport Limited (OTL) has expressed concern over the repeated unavailability of court records in its ongoing property dispute involving Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, and her sons, warning that the situation is delaying the administration of justice.

The matter, before Justice A.M. Lawal of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, was unable to proceed after the case file was reportedly unavailable for the second time in six weeks. According to OTL, a similar incident occurred in May, forcing the court to adjourn proceedings on both occasions.

The company alleged that the court file was removed from the Ikeja Judicial Division to facilitate the execution of a warrant and has yet to be returned. OTL argued that the repeated absence of the file has stalled the hearing of the matter and raised concerns about the handling and accountability of court records.

Amid the delays, the firm disclosed that it has filed a motion for a stay of execution before the Court of Appeal, seeking to suspend enforcement of the judgment pending the determination of its appeal against the 2022 High Court decision relating to the disputed properties.

OTL also maintained that the properties had previously been the subject of an earlier court judgment delivered in 2018, arguing that the current dispute should be considered in light of the earlier proceedings. The company said it remains committed to pursuing its legal remedies through the courts.

The property dispute has continued to attract public attention, with the repeated adjournments raising fresh concerns over procedural delays and the efficient management of judicial records in high-profile cases.
