FCT Projects Will Sway 2027 Votes for APC — Wike
Nyesom Wike says ongoing infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory will strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that ongoing infrastructure development across Abuja and surrounding satellite towns will improve the electoral fortunes of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections.
Wike spoke on Tuesday after inspecting several projects scheduled for inauguration as part of activities marking Tinubu’s second anniversary in office.
According to the minister, residents of the FCT were beginning to feel the impact of governance through road construction, judicial infrastructure, housing projects and other public works extending beyond Abuja city centre into rural communities.
“What the people want is simple. They want to feel the impact of governance. Nigerians are interested in good governance, infrastructure, electricity and improved living conditions,” Wike said.
Responding to questions on whether the projects could influence voting patterns in 2027, the former Rivers State governor argued that recent Area Council election outcomes already reflected growing public support for the administration.
“What reason would people have not to vote for Mr President now? How many governments before now have been able to impact the satellite towns the way this administration is doing?” he asked.
Wike cited the A2-Pai Road project in Kwali as evidence of the administration’s effort to expand development to underserved rural areas, noting that it marked the first time a sitting president visited the area to inaugurate a project.
The minister also challenged opposition figures and coalition members to tour the FCT and assess the projects being executed under the current administration.
“I think it will be interesting for the public to see governance in action. I wonder where the opposition or coalition members are. They should come and see what is happening in the FCT,” he added.
Wike disclosed that at least 20 projects would be inaugurated during the anniversary celebrations, including road projects, water infrastructure and judicial facilities across various parts of the territory.
The inspection tour covered projects such as the rehabilitation of the Appeal Court Complex in Dakibiyu, Judges’ Quarters in Katampe, road construction projects in Gaduwa and Kabusa, and the relocation site for traders from the Apo Mechanic Village.
According to the minister, the projects reflect an inclusive development agenda designed to improve living conditions in both urban and rural communities across the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
