FCT Police Command Impounds Over 30 Vehicles in Massive Security Sweep
The FCT Police Command has conducted a major security operation across Abuja, impounding over thirty vehicles for utilizing illegal tinted glass, obscured number plates, and unregistered credentials.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has executed a massive, coordinated security sweep across the nation's capital, resulting in the immediate impoundment of more than thirty vehicles for flagrantly violating federal regulations regarding the use of tinted glass windows. The extensive enforcement drive, which was carried out across strategic highway junctions, commercial districts, and major entry points into Abuja, was specifically designed to proactively disrupt the logistics of criminal elements and one-chance robbery syndicates who historically rely on heavily obscured vehicles to conceal their victims. Beyond the crackdown on illegal tinted glass, tactical teams also seized numerous vehicles operating with deliberately obscured number plates or completely improper, fraudulent registration documents.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer confirmed that the command initiated this high-visibility operation following deep intelligence reports indicating that unregistered and tinted vehicles were being increasingly used to facilitate hit-and-run offenses and illegal weapon transfers within the city center. The police leadership warned the general public that the ban on unauthorized tinted glass remains fully active, emphasizing that motorists must possess a legitimate, officially approved permit issued directly by the Nigeria Police Force to escape prosecution. The command assured residents that the enforcement operations would be sustained as a permanent security feature in Abuja, while the owners of the impounded vehicles face rigorous security profiling and heavy administrative fines before their properties can be released.
