Eid-el-Kabir: Dark Days Over, Light Is Here, Tinubu Assures Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country is emerging from its difficult economic period, declaring that “the dark tunnel is over” as the nation begins to experience the impact of ongoing reforms.

In his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, Tinubu said the sacrifices made by Nigerians over the past three years had helped stabilise the economy and position the country as a more attractive destination for investment and economic growth.

“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth. The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” the President stated.

Tinubu linked the message of Eid-el-Kabir to the economic hardships experienced under his administration’s reform policies, while expressing confidence that the reforms would continue to improve security and create opportunities for citizens.

The President, however, acknowledged that insecurity remained a major concern despite recent military successes against insurgents and bandits. He referenced the recent joint Nigeria-US operation that reportedly eliminated ISIS commander Abu-Bilal al-Manuki in the Lake Chad Basin.

“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.

Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity and national renewal during the celebration.

Governors including Monday Okpebholo and Sheriff Oborevwori also urged citizens to promote peaceful coexistence, compassion and national unity.

Similarly, Nentawe Yilwatda encouraged Nigerians to support ongoing reforms and uphold harmony across ethnic and religious lines as the country navigates its economic and security challenges ahead of the 2027 elections.
