Dickson Says NDC Granted Access to INEC Portal for 2027 Candidate Upload

National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has announced that the party has been granted access to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal to upload the names of its candidates for the 2027 general elections. The development comes despite an ongoing legal dispute surrounding the party's status.

Dickson disclosed the development in a statement shared on his X account, revealing that the party had also filed an appeal and an application for a stay of execution against a recent Federal High Court judgment affecting the NDC. According to him, the legal processes have been served on INEC, and the party remains validly registered pending the outcome of the appeal.

He stated that the NDC had already concluded its nationwide primary elections under INEC's supervision and that only the administrative process of uploading candidates' names remained. Dickson confirmed that his name and that of the party's presidential candidate had already been uploaded to the INEC portal, while the vice-presidential candidate's details would follow after the completion of the necessary documentation.

The former Bayelsa State governor also reminded party members that, in line with INEC's election timetable, the deadline for uploading National Assembly candidates is July 11, while governorship and State House of Assembly candidates must be submitted by July 17. He urged members to remain calm, insisting that the party would continue to pursue its legal rights while preparing for the 2027 elections.

The announcement follows days of uncertainty over the NDC's participation in the electoral process after conflicting reports emerged regarding the party's registration status. Dickson maintained that the party remains committed to strengthening Nigeria's multi-party democracy and expressed confidence that the courts would ultimately resolve the matter in its favour.
