Afenifere Endorses Operation Kósàyè, Praises Lagos-Ogun Anti-Kidnap Offensive
Afenifere has applauded the Nigeria Police Force's Operation Kósàyè, describing the Lagos-Ogun anti-kidnap operation as a major success after the rescue of victims, arrest of suspects and clearance of criminal hideouts.
Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere has commended the Nigeria Police Force for the successful launch of Operation Kósàyè, describing the joint security operation in Lagos and Ogun states as a decisive step towards tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes in the South-West. The group urged security agencies to sustain the momentum to ensure lasting peace across the region.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, Afenifere praised the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as well as the Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Ogun, for coordinating the operation. The organisation noted that the rescue of kidnapped victims, the arrest of numerous suspects and the dismantling of criminal hideouts demonstrated the effectiveness of proactive policing.
Operation Kósàyè, a joint security initiative covering parts of Lagos and Ogun, has so far resulted in the rescue of five kidnap victims, the arrest of dozens of suspected criminals and the recovery of firearms and other weapons. The operation also involved extensive clearance of forests and criminal camps believed to have been used as hideouts by kidnappers operating along major highways and border communities.
Afenifere urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible intelligence capable of preventing criminal activities. The group stressed that community cooperation remains essential to sustaining the gains already recorded and ensuring criminals do not regain a foothold in the affected areas.
The organisation further expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between security agencies, state governments and local communities would strengthen public safety, restore confidence among residents and discourage criminal elements from operating within the South-West.
