Chelsea, Manchester United Confirm Harrison, Kone Transfer Decisions

Chelsea and Manchester United have announced fresh squad decisions involving two of their promising young midfielders, Ollie Harrison and Sekou Kone, as both clubs continue plans to develop emerging talents.

Chelsea confirmed on Saturday that academy midfielder Ollie Harrison has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2029.

The 19-year-old joined the Blues from Newcastle United in 2023 after impressing at youth level.

Since arriving in west London, Harrison has progressed steadily through Chelsea’s academy ranks, quickly establishing himself as a regular member of the club’s Under-18 side.

His consistent performances earned him his first professional contract in August 2024, and he became an important figure in Chelsea’s Under-21 squad during the 2025/26 campaign.

Meanwhile, Manchester United confirmed that highly rated midfielder Sekou Kone will spend the 2026/27 season on loan with Swiss Super League side Lausanne-Sport.

The move marks Kone’s return to the Swiss club after spending the second half of last season there, where he gained valuable first-team experience.

United believe another season of regular senior football will aid the 19-year-old’s development before he challenges for a place at Old Trafford.

The Mali youth international joined Manchester United in August 2024 from Guidars FC and has since been regarded as one of the club’s brightest young prospects.

Although he is yet to make a competitive first-team appearance for the Red Devils, club officials remain optimistic about his future and view the latest loan move as another important step in his progression.

Both Chelsea and Manchester United have increasingly relied on strategic contract extensions and carefully managed loan spells to prepare academy graduates for senior football.

While Harrison will continue his growth within Chelsea’s youth setup, Kone is expected to benefit from another campaign of top-flight football in Switzerland as he seeks to return to Manchester United with greater experience and readiness for first-team competition.
