Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement worth £52 million to sign French defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace, strengthening their defence ahead of the new Premier League season.

The 26-year-old impressed during his debut campaign with Palace after arriving from Wolfsburg, attracting interest from several top European clubs. Chelsea moved quickly to secure the defender's signature after identifying him as a priority target.

Lacroix is expected to undergo a medical before completing the move, where he will add pace, physicality and aerial strength to Chelsea's backline under manager Enzo Maresca.

The transfer represents another major investment by Chelsea as the club continues reshaping its squad in pursuit of domestic and European success.
