Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has raised the alarm over what he described as a sinister plot by political opponents to destabilise motor parks across the state, directing the police to take immediate action against those behind the alleged scheme.**

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has alerted security agencies to an alleged plot by unnamed political elements to cause chaos and disrupt operations at motor parks across the state.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said he had received credible intelligence suggesting that certain individuals were planning to infiltrate motor parks with the aim of inciting violence and creating a climate of fear.

Adeleke described the alleged plot as politically motivated, warning that no individual or group would be allowed to use public transportation hubs as platforms for thuggery or political destabilisation.

The governor directed the Commissioner of Police in Osun State to immediately deploy adequate security personnel to all major motor parks and ensure the safety of commuters, transporters and park workers.

He also instructed security agencies to monitor the activities of known political thugs and arrest anyone found fomenting trouble or threatening the peace at motor parks.

The latest alarm comes amid rising political tension in Osun State, with allegations from various quarters that desperate politicians are plotting to destabilise the state ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

In recent weeks, Governor Adeleke has directed the state Police Command to arrest documented thugs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the public resorts to self-help, following a series of attacks on opposition property and public infrastructure.

The Accord Party, under which Adeleke is seeking re-election, has also condemned repeated attacks on Imole House — the governor's campaign office and party secretariat in Osogbo — alleging that thugs sponsored by opposition politicians shot sporadically at the building and shattered glass windows.

Governor Adeleke reportedly warned that his administration would not tolerate any attempt to use motor parks as staging grounds for political violence, noting that transportation hubs are critical to the economic livelihood of thousands of residents.

He called on transport union leaders to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious activities or attempts to recruit drivers and park workers into acts of political violence.

The governor also urged citizens to go about their daily activities without fear, assuring them that his administration was working closely with security agencies to maintain law and order across the state.

The Osun State Police Command is yet to issue a formal response to the governor's directive.
