2027: Tinubu’s Challengers Lack Vision To Transform Nigeria — Hamzat
Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat says President Tinubu’s challengers lack the vision needed to transform Nigeria, praising the President’s leadership and infrastructure agenda.
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has said many politicians seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election lack the vision required to transform Nigeria.
Hamzat made the remark on Sunday while addressing members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairmen’s Forum during their visit to major infrastructure projects in Lagos State. The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the deputy governor at his residence in Ikoyi.
Speaking on criticisms directed at President Tinubu by some presidential aspirants, Hamzat maintained that effective leadership requires foresight and long-term planning.
“Many who want to lead do not have vision. We are grateful to have leaders with foresight. Many people could not see what Asiwaju Tinubu envisioned years ago,” he said.
The deputy governor described Tinubu as a leader who encourages innovation, inclusiveness and the free exchange of ideas.
“Before the President, nobody is too small. Once your idea is better, it takes precedence, even above the President’s own. He gives room for ideas to grow,” Hamzat added.
According to him, Tinubu’s decision to establish specialised agencies while serving as Governor of Lagos State was driven by the belief that dedicated institutions could deliver better results than conventional ministries.
Hamzat said several landmark infrastructure projects currently transforming Lagos and Nigeria reflect Tinubu’s long-term development agenda.
He listed the rail transport system, the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Eko Atlantic City, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Badagry-Sokoto Highway as examples of projects inspired by strategic leadership.
“These projects are not merely for transportation; they are meant to industrialise the country and connect Nigerians,” he said.
The deputy governor added that improved infrastructure would promote trade, strengthen national integration and stimulate sustainable economic growth.
He also urged APC state chairmen to work closely with their governors and emphasised the need for elected public officials to remain committed to party ideals, transparency and accountability.
