VDM Demands Arrest of Budget Office DG Over PFIPC Boss Investigation

Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has called for the arrest of the Director-General of the Budget Office, alleging that the recently arrested Director-General of the Project Financial Implementation and Public-Private Partnership Commission (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Matthew, did not act alone.

VDM made the call in a video shared on his Instagram page, where he reacted to reports of Adeniyi’s arrest and alleged that the PFIPC chief had privately disclosed details about how the commission was incorporated into Nigeria’s national budget.

According to him, the allegations point to a wider network of officials who should also be investigated rather than allowing one individual to bear the responsibility.

“The PFIPC DG that was arrested revealed a lot of things to me in confidence, and I think it is time for me to post those things,” VDM said.

“He told me how PFIPC got into the national budget with the help of some people in power.”

The activist argued that Adeniyi was merely a victim of what he described as a deeply entrenched corrupt system that may have existed for years.

“I am revealing everything now because it looks like they want him alone to take the fall, which doesn’t make sense. Prince Adeniyi Matthew didn’t act alone,” he stated.

VDM specifically demanded the arrest of the Director-General of the Budget Office and called for a comprehensive investigation into the country’s budgeting process.

He maintained that the matter should not end with the prosecution of the PFIPC boss alone.

The social media critic also addressed the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, who reportedly instituted a ₦15 billion lawsuit against Adeniyi over allegations linking him to the controversy.

VDM said he understood why the Chief of Staff felt aggrieved but insisted that other officials allegedly mentioned by Adeniyi should also be investigated.

He further called for the resignation and prosecution of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Director-General of the Budget Office and staff of the affected government offices.

According to him, anyone responsible for supervising the offices involved should also be held accountable.

“The system is very rotten, and if we really want this country to grow, we must demand real accountability, not political-influence accountability,” he said.

The allegations have yet to receive an official response from the Budget Office, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation or the Presidency.
