United Nigeria Airlines Suspends Benin Operations Following Runway Closure
United Nigeria Airlines halted flights to Benin due to an emergency runway closure issued by aviation regulators for critical repairs.
LAGOS — United Nigeria Airlines has announced the immediate temporary suspension of all flight operations to and from the Victor Attah International Airport segment covering its Benin routes, following a sudden runway closure announced by aviation authorities for urgent maintenance and safety upgrades.
The airline confirmed that all scheduled flights into the affected airport have been placed on hold pending official safety clearance and reopening by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
The domestic carrier stated that the operational pause was necessary to ensure passenger safety following an official Notice to Airmen issuing an emergency runway closure for critical surface repairs.
Affected passengers are being contacted by the airline's customer service channels to offer free rebooking options, alternative route connections where available, or full ticket refunds.
United Nigeria Airlines reaffirmed its commitment to resuming normal flight schedules as soon as civil aviation authorities complete the necessary runway maintenance and declare the airfield safe for commercial operations.
