Nigerians Who Don’t See Progress Need ‘Tinubu Eyeglasses’ — Remi Tinubu
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu says Nigerians who fail to recognise progress under President Bola Tinubu’s administration may need “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses.”
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has said Nigerians who do not recognise progress under President Bola Tinubu’s administration may need what she described as “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses.”
She made the remark on Friday, October 23, during the inauguration of the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots group mobilising support for the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
“So things are happening in Nigeria, except, you know, those who don’t see; maybe we’ll give them some, you know, Bola Tinubu eyeglasses. We are doing that, JigiBola,” the First Lady said.
Mrs Tinubu pointed to changes at Nigerian airports as evidence of progress, expressing hope that improved facilities would make air travel faster and more convenient.
“I want to get to the airport. I want to travel, you know, so quickly. And you can see our airports too are changing,” she said.
She also expressed her desire to leave the Presidential Villa in 2031 and live in a country where she could enjoy her later years.
“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that me as a 70-something-year-old woman will enjoy,” she said.
The First Lady’s remarks came as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) organising campaigns to promote President Tinubu’s second-term bid.
Following her remarks, she formally commissioned the movement’s Abuja headquarters and expressed support for the President’s re-election campaign.
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement is designed to mobilise support at the grassroots level for the administration and its political agenda.
The phrase “JigiBola” references an eye-care initiative introduced by Tinubu during his tenure as Lagos State governor, which provided eye screening, eyeglasses and surgeries.
Her comments have drawn attention amid continuing public debate over the administration’s performance, economic reforms and the extent to which Nigerians are experiencing improvements in their daily lives.
