Trump Vows Strong Response After Iran Attacks US Bases

United States President Donald Trump has vowed to respond forcefully after Iran reportedly launched attacks on US military bases in Jordan, escalating tensions as renewed fighting across the Middle East raised concerns about a wider regional conflict. Trump said the United States would take decisive action against Iran following the attacks.

The latest escalation followed a brief pause in hostilities that had raised hopes of renewed diplomatic negotiations. However, the fresh attacks sent oil prices rising by about five per cent amid fears that the conflict could disrupt global energy supplies and further destabilise the region.

On Wednesday, the United States and Saudi Arabia also announced joint strikes on bases linked to Iran-aligned armed groups in Iraq. Saudi authorities said the operation followed drone attacks on oil facilities, which Riyadh blamed on armed groups supported by Tehran.

Iranian state media later reported that US airstrikes had targeted an area near the country’s border with Iraq, although officials said the location was uninhabited and no casualties were recorded. Jordan’s military also said it intercepted several Iranian missiles aimed at targets within its territory.

The renewed conflict has increased pressure on regional leaders to prevent further escalation, particularly as tensions continue around major oil routes. The developments have also renewed concerns about the impact of the crisis on global energy supplies and wider international security.
