Trump Urges UK Prime Minister Burnham to Tackle Illegal Migration

United States President Donald Trump has urged British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to take decisive action against illegal migration, warning that the issue is seriously affecting the United Kingdom.

Trump made the remarks during an interview with GB News on Wednesday, saying Burnham would eventually have to address the immigration challenge despite initially avoiding the subject after assuming office.

“He’s going to have to mention it because it’s killing your country,” Trump said.

The US president criticised the previous Labour administration led by former Prime Minister Keir Starmer, claiming insufficient action was taken to curb illegal migration.

“I know Starmer did very little about it, and they’re coming from all over the world.

“They’re coming from Africa. They’re coming from South America. They’re coming from different parts of Asia.

“They’re invading Europe,” Trump said.

He further described the situation as an invasion, adding that the United Kingdom had become one of the countries most affected by the migration crisis.

Trump’s comments came shortly after reports indicated that more than 500 migrants crossed the English Channel into Britain on Wednesday.

According to GB News, the migrants reached British waters after people smugglers launched 11 small boats from several locations along the French and Belgian coastline, with departures reported from beaches stretching from Belgium to the French port of Dieppe.

The latest crossings have renewed concerns over the increasing number of migrants attempting to enter the UK through the English Channel despite ongoing efforts by British and French authorities to disrupt human smuggling networks.

Burnham’s government has also faced growing scrutiny over its strategy for managing asylum seekers and strengthening border security.

The administration is expected to outline its immigration policies as pressure mounts from opposition parties and sections of the public demanding tougher measures to curb illegal migration.

Immigration remains one of the most contentious political issues in the United Kingdom, with successive governments facing criticism over rising Channel crossings and the handling of asylum applications.

Trump has consistently advocated stricter immigration controls in both the United States and Europe, arguing that governments must prioritise border security and enforce immigration laws to protect national interests.
