Truck Driver, Four Others Arrested Over Trailer Theft in Ogun
The Ogun State Police have arrested a truck driver and four others for allegedly stealing and dismantling a trailer. Investigators say the suspects are part of a syndicate involved in dismantling stolen trailers and selling their parts, while efforts continue to apprehend other members of the group.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a truck driver and four other suspects for allegedly stealing and dismantling a trailer in what authorities described as a criminal syndicate involved in the theft and illegal sale of trailer parts. The suspects were apprehended following an investigation launched after the owner of the missing trailer reported the incident to the police.
According to the police, investigations revealed that the stolen trailer had been taken to a location where it was dismantled and its parts prepared for sale. The operation led to the arrest of five suspects, including the truck driver allegedly linked to the theft. Officers also recovered parts of the dismantled trailer during the raid.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, said the arrests exposed an organised network specialising in stealing trailers, dismantling them and selling the components to unsuspecting buyers. He noted that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the syndicate while efforts continue to recover additional stolen property.
The police urged transport operators and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, reaffirming the command's commitment to tackling organised crime and protecting lives and property across Ogun State.
