Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified ongoing military operations across the North-West, killing two bandits, arresting seven suspected terrorist collaborators and disrupting criminal activities in Kaduna and Zamfara states.

According to an operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, the troops recorded the successes during a series of coordinated operations aimed at tackling banditry, terrorism and cattle rustling in the region.

The report stated that troops of the 4 Demonstration Battalion neutralised two bandits during an operation conducted in Lere village, located in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The military operation was reportedly launched in response to cattle rustling activities within the community.

During the operation, troops engaged the suspected bandits and successfully neutralised two of them while recovering rustled livestock and weapons.

Items recovered from the suspects included an AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with ammunition and several rustled cows believed to have been taken from local residents.

The report further disclosed that troops extended their operations to Zamfara State, where four suspected collaborators linked to notorious bandit leader Gwaska Dan Karami were apprehended.

The suspects were arrested during a cordon-and-search exercise conducted in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area.

The arrested individuals were identified as Alhaji Yahya Hoji, Abdullahi Dan Tsabaro, Kabiru Dan Gulgule and Kalala.

Military authorities alleged that the suspects had connections with criminal networks operating within the area and were being investigated for their roles in supporting bandit activities.

In a separate operation, troops also arrested three additional suspects during the screening of returning pilgrims at Gusau International Airport in Zamfara State.

The military said the suspects were apprehended based on intelligence linking them to terrorist-related activities.

Although details of their alleged involvement were not disclosed, authorities confirmed that investigations were ongoing.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA has continued to intensify military pressure on bandits and terrorist groups operating across the North-West region, particularly in states affected by recurring attacks, kidnappings and cattle rustling.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements and ensuring the restoration of peace and security across affected communities.

Authorities also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing efforts to combat insecurity in the region
