President Bola Tinubu secured 131,096 votes in the APC presidential primary in Edo State, defeating challenger Stanley Osifo, who recorded just one vote across the state.

Tinubu Secures 131,096 Votes in APC Presidential Primary in Edo

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu polled 131,096 votes in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary conducted across the 192 wards in Edo State on Saturday.


Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, who served as the returning officer for the exercise, announced the results at the APC secretariat in Ikpoba Hill, Benin City.


According to Okpebholo, the primary election was peaceful across the state, with Tinubu recording an overwhelming victory over his challenger, Stanley Osifo, who secured only one vote statewide.


“The election was peacefully conducted across Edo State. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured 131,096 votes while Osifo scored one vote,” the governor stated.


Results presented by collation officers from the 18 local government areas showed Tinubu dominating the exercise across all three senatorial districts.


In Edo South Senatorial District, Tinubu recorded major victories in key councils including Oredo, where he polled 9,177 votes, Ikpoba-Okha with 13,147 votes, and Egor with 10,074 votes, while Osifo failed to secure any vote in the areas.


Tinubu also secured 10,044 votes in Ovia South West, 7,983 votes in Ovia North East, and 6,858 votes in Orhionmwon Local Government Area.


In Edo North Senatorial District, the president scored 11,497 votes in Etsako West, 7,464 votes in Akoko-Edo, and 7,123 votes in Etsako East, while Osifo recorded zero votes in all the councils.


Similarly, in Edo Central Senatorial District, Tinubu swept all local government areas including Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben with wide margins.


The exercise formed part of the nationwide APC presidential primary held simultaneously across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 general elections.
