Tinubu: ‘If You Tackle Us, We Will Asiwaju You’ — Umahi Warns Obidient Movement

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has warned members of the Obidient Movement against what he described as deliberate attempts to undermine the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Umahi made the remarks during an event in Lagos, where he accused some individuals of creating content aimed at discrediting the Federal Government and vowed that supporters of the President would continue to defend his policies and projects.

According to the minister, the Tinubu administration would not remain silent in the face of criticism that he believes is intended to diminish the government’s accomplishments.

“There is a committed effort by some people, building their own content creation to undermine the great work President Tinubu is doing, but we will not allow it,” Umahi said.

He added, “We sharpen our mouth, they tackle us, we tackle them, they Obidient us, we Tinubu them, we Asiwaju them, we can’t keep quiet.”

Umahi also challenged supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to point to what they considered significant achievements during Obi’s tenure as governor of Anambra State.

Responding to claims that Obi left substantial financial savings for the state, the minister argued that such savings did not reflect the actual financial situation because outstanding obligations remained unpaid.

“Let them tell us what they have achieved in their place. Somebody was telling me during a debate that Peter Obi left 50 million dollars, but I told him that Obiano said he left the money in the bank while contractors were still being owed. By the time the debts were settled, everything became negative,” he stated.

Umahi further argued that government should prioritise investment and development rather than accumulating savings while citizens face economic hardship.

Drawing an analogy from the Bible, he referenced the parable of the talents, saying wealth should be deployed to create opportunities and improve people’s lives.

“You can’t be saving when the people are hungry, when there is no industry,” he said.

The minister’s comments come amid continued political exchanges between supporters of President Tinubu and the Obidient Movement, with both sides frequently engaging in public debates over governance, economic policies and the performance of previous administrations.

His remarks are expected to generate fresh reactions from opposition supporters as political discourse ahead of future elections continues to intensify across the country.
