Speeding Driver Kills Man in Oyo

A middle-aged man has been killed after he was struck by a speeding vehicle while attempting to cross the Ojoo–Iwo Road Expressway at Orogun Bus Stop in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State. The tragic incident occurred at about 9 p.m. on Friday, according to eyewitnesses.

Witnesses said the victim was crossing the busy highway when the speeding vehicle knocked him down. The impact killed him instantly, while the driver reportedly fled the scene without stopping to render assistance or report the incident to authorities.

Residents expressed concern over the increasing number of accidents along the Ojoo–Iwo Road corridor, blaming excessive speeding and the absence of adequate pedestrian crossing facilities. They called on the relevant authorities to introduce measures that would improve road safety and protect pedestrians using the highway.

As of the time of the report, the victim had not been identified, while officials were yet to remove his body from the scene. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and track down the driver responsible for the fatal crash.
