Shettima's Renomination Reward for Loyalty, Say APC North-East Stakeholders

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria's North-East have described the re-nomination of Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu's running mate for the 2027 presidential election as a reward for his loyalty, competence and commitment to public service. The position was made known during the North-East Grand Youth Celebration held in Bauchi, where party leaders and supporters gathered to celebrate Shettima's retention on the APC ticket.

Speaking at the event, Abubakar Zaid, Director-General of the BAT/KSM Progressive Alliance, represented by the alliance's National Secretary, Shettima Umar, said the Vice President had consistently demonstrated unwavering loyalty and capacity since assuming office. He noted that Shettima had played key roles in advancing the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly through the National Economic Council, and in programmes focused on education, food security and support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

Also addressing participants, Mahmud Muhammad, Personal Assistant on Domestic and North-East Affairs in the Office of the Vice President, said Shettima's selection in both 2023 and 2027 was based on trust, competence and his experience in governance. He argued that the Vice President had justified the confidence reposed in him through his contributions to national development and his support for President Tinubu's administration.

The stakeholders commended APC supporters, particularly young people in the North-East, for remaining committed to the party and urged them to sustain their mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election. They expressed confidence that Shettima's retention would strengthen the APC's support base in the region and promote continuity in governance.
