Global energy company Shell has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria's energy transition and long-term development, pledging continued investment and collaboration to meet the country's growing energy needs while promoting sustainable practices.
Speaking at an industry event, Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), Ronald Adams, said Shell remains committed to working with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to develop Nigeria's energy resources responsibly. He noted that the company has played a significant role in the country's energy sector for decades and intends to remain a strategic partner in its future growth.
Adams said Nigeria's energy journey requires sustained investment in oil and gas alongside the gradual adoption of cleaner energy solutions. He stressed that natural gas would continue to play a vital role in supporting industrialisation, improving energy access and reducing carbon emissions during the transition to a lower-carbon economy.
According to him, Shell will continue investing in innovation, technology and local capacity development while prioritising safety, environmental sustainability and community partnerships. He added that collaboration between government, regulators and private investors remains essential to unlocking the full potential of Nigeria's energy sector.
The company also reaffirmed its support for policies that encourage investment, improve regulatory certainty and strengthen the country's position as a leading energy producer. Shell expressed confidence that continued partnership with stakeholders would contribute to economic growth, job creation and a more secure energy future for Nigeria.
