Security Agencies Probe Murder, Robbery of Polytechnic Students in Ogun

Security agencies have launched an investigation into the murder and robbery of students of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, following a deadly attack by suspected armed robbers in Eruku Community, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State. The incident, which claimed the life of a female student and left others traumatised, has sparked widespread concern over the security of students living off campus.

The attack reportedly occurred when armed assailants invaded the community, robbing residents of their valuables before fatally attacking one of the students. Security operatives have since commenced investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible, while efforts have been intensified to restore calm in the area.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) condemned the incident, describing it as a tragic reminder of the growing security challenges confronting students. The association urged the Ogun State Police Command to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted without delay.

NANS also called on the Ogun State Government, community leaders and the management of tertiary institutions to strengthen security around campuses and student host communities. The association advised students residing in Eruku Community to relocate temporarily where possible until adequate security measures are put in place.

Authorities have assured residents that security agencies are working together to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack and prevent similar incidents. Investigations remain ongoing as students and residents await further updates on the case.
