Sanwo-Olu Appoints Acting Lagos State Auditor-General
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has nominated Dr Olufunke Omolara Tayo-Makanjuola as the Acting Lagos State Auditor-General, subject to House of Assembly confirmation. The state government said her appointment reflects its commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability and effective public financial management.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has nominated Dr Olufunke Omolara Tayo-Makanjuola as the Acting State Auditor-General, pending confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly. The appointment, which took effect on 28 July 2026, was announced through a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service as part of efforts to strengthen accountability and financial oversight in the state's public service.
Before her nomination, Tayo-Makanjuola served as the Head of Directorate, Government Accounts, where she was recognised for her professionalism, integrity and commitment to public financial management. The state government said her extensive experience in public sector accounting and auditing makes her well suited for the role.
The newly appointed acting Auditor-General holds a Doctor of Business Administration in International Business from Lagos State University, as well as several other academic and professional qualifications in accounting, financial management and forensic investigation. She is also a Fellow and member of various professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.
In a statement, the Office of the State Auditor-General congratulated Tayo-Makanjuola on her nomination and expressed confidence in her ability to provide effective leadership. It also commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for entrusting her with the responsibility of advancing transparency, accountability and excellence in public sector auditing across Lagos State.
The appointment is expected to reinforce the state's financial oversight framework as the administration continues to prioritise prudent management of public resources and improved governance through stronger institutional leadership.
