Politics Not for the Weak, Says Bayelsa PDP Chairman

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, George Turnah, has said politics requires resilience, determination and courage, insisting that only those prepared to withstand pressure can succeed in the political arena. He made the remarks while expressing confidence in the party's readiness for future elections despite recent political developments in the state.

Speaking at a reception for former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Gabriel Claudius, popularly known as "One Million Man," who recently returned to the PDP, Turnah said the party remains united and well-positioned to reclaim political dominance. He maintained that defections and political realignments would not weaken the PDP's resolve ahead of the 2028 governorship election.

Turnah described politics as a demanding endeavour that requires perseverance and commitment, urging party members to remain focused despite challenges. According to him, the PDP is rebuilding its grassroots structure and strengthening internal unity to improve its chances in future electoral contests.

He also welcomed returning members into the party, describing their decision as a sign of growing confidence in the PDP's leadership and direction. He assured supporters that the party would continue to engage communities through developmental initiatives and political mobilisation across the state.

The remarks come as political parties intensify preparations for the next electoral cycle, with increasing defections and strategic alliances shaping the political landscape in Bayelsa and other parts of the country.
