Police Foil Kidnap Plot on Jigawa–Bauchi Border, Arrest Two Suspects
Police in Jigawa State have foiled a kidnapping plot along the Jigawa–Bauchi border, arresting two suspects before the operation was executed and uncovering wider criminal activities in the state.
The Jigawa State Police Command says it has foiled a kidnapping plot along the Jigawa–Bauchi border and arrested two suspects before the crime could be carried out.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Dutse by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam.
According to the statement, the operation uncovered a criminal conspiracy involving two suspects identified as Adamu Gari, 55, from Zabo Kafi Village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, and Abdullahi Adamu, 40, of Fatiske Village in Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects and other members of their syndicate had allegedly kidnapped two individuals from Jama’are town before being tracked and arrested in their respective communities.
SP Adam stated that the arrests were part of coordinated intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating across state boundaries.
He added that the suspects were currently assisting the police with information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing members of the gang.
The command said further arrests were expected as investigations progressed.
In a broader security update, the police disclosed that several other criminal operations were disrupted across the state in the past week, including cases of armed robbery, cattle rustling, theft, and motorcycle-related crimes.
On May 22, 2026, detectives from the State Intelligence Department arrested three suspects linked to armed robbery in Hadejia Emirate, with a fabricated AK-47 rifle reportedly recovered during a search.
In another operation on May 23, police in Gwaram Division arrested two suspects for alleged theft of sheep and a motorcycle used in criminal activity, while operatives in Taura Division also intercepted suspected cattle rustlers in possession of stolen livestock.
The command further reported the dismantling of a robbery gang that mounted an illegal roadblock along the Ringim–Chaichai Road, describing the group as responsible for terrorising motorists in the area.
Additional operations led to the recovery of stolen motorcycles abandoned by fleeing suspects in Dutse and Laraba villages.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in the operations, reaffirming the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Jigawa State.
Residents were also urged to continue providing timely and credible information to assist security agencies in preventing and detecting crimes.
