Police Arrest Two Over Cattle Theft, Foil Suspected Kidnap Plot in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected cattle thieves and recovered six stolen cows during separate intelligence-led operations that also led to the foiling of a suspected abduction attempt along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The operations form part of ongoing efforts to tackle violent crime and livestock theft across the state.

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended after credible intelligence linked them to the theft of cattle from a herd in Ogun State. Officers recovered six cows believed to have been stolen, along with a vehicle allegedly used to transport the animals. The recovered livestock has since been returned to its rightful owner while investigations continue.

In a separate operation, security operatives intercepted a suspected kidnapping plot targeting commuters along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Acting on intelligence, police officers moved swiftly to the area, forcing the suspects to abandon their plan before any victim could be abducted. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal group who escaped.

The Ogun State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in combating crime. It also assured the public that those arrested would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.

The latest arrests add to a series of recent police operations targeting cattle rustling, kidnapping and other organised crimes across the country, as law enforcement agencies intensify efforts to improve public safety.
