The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six suspects in Ibadan over alleged fraudulent sale of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at over ₦71 million in Ondo State.
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six men in Ibadan, Oyo State, in connection with alleged fraudulent activities involving the sale and transfer of heavy-duty vehicles in Ondo State.
The suspects include Adeola Kolawole (56), Alhaji Gani Bello (73), Oladoja Akeem (56), Wasiu Adigun (55), Azeez Yusuf (49) and Ojo Mudasiru (40).
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the arrests followed an intelligence-led investigation into the alleged fraudulent sale of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at over ₦71 million.
Jimoh said the case was reported on May 22, 2026, by one Mr Paul Aderemi of Ayegunle Street, Ondo, who alleged that he purchased a low-loader truck, a tipper truck and a small truck, which he entrusted to the custody of the principal suspect under an agreed arrangement.
The complainant reportedly discovered on May 13, 2026, that the vehicles had been sold without his consent, prompting him to report the matter to the police.
The police spokesperson said detectives immediately launched a comprehensive investigation after receiving the complaint, leading to the arrest of the principal suspect, Adeola Kolawole, in Ibadan.
He added that the suspect allegedly confessed to selling the vehicles to Alhaji Gani Bello, also based in Ibadan, which provided further leads that resulted in the arrest of additional suspects.
According to the command, all six suspects have made confessional statements detailing their alleged involvement in the fraudulent transaction.
The police stated that efforts are ongoing to recover the three vehicles and fully unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy.
The suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations, while the command urged members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement with credible and timely information to aid crime prevention across the state.
