The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects for alleged burglary, theft and unlawful possession of cannabis during separate operations across the state. The arrests followed intelligence-led raids carried out by police operatives as part of efforts to tackle crime and drug-related offences.
According to the command, some of the suspects were arrested for allegedly breaking into residential buildings and carting away valuables, while others were found in possession of substances suspected to be cannabis during police patrols. Officers also recovered several stolen items believed to have been taken during the burglary operations.
Police said preliminary investigations linked the suspects to criminal activities in parts of Bauchi State, adding that efforts were ongoing to identify other members of the syndicates and recover additional stolen property. The suspected cannabis has been secured as evidence pending forensic examination and further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the command's commitment to tackling burglary, drug abuse and other criminal activities across the state. He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to aid ongoing operations against criminal elements.
