A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, Adedeji Olajide, has pledged ₦50 million to support the Youth Legislative Summit, reaffirming his commitment to mentoring young people and promoting leadership development among students in Oyo State. He made the announcement during his induction into the University of Ibadan Students' Union in Ibadan.

Olajide, who is also the Allied Peoples Movement's candidate for the Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 elections, praised the unity and progress demonstrated by the student body. He said students would achieve even greater success if they received proper mentorship and were equipped with the skills needed to become responsible leaders.

Describing his induction as both an honour and a responsibility, the lawmaker pledged to devote his time and resources to preparing students for future leadership roles. He urged them to remain focused on their academic pursuits, uphold discipline and avoid distractions that could hinder their personal and professional development.

Olajide explained that the ₦50 million donation would support the organisation of the Youth Legislative Summit, which is intended to expose students to legislative processes, democratic values and effective leadership. He noted that investing in young people is essential to building a more responsible and prosperous society.

The pledge has been welcomed by student leaders, who described it as a significant boost to youth development initiatives. They expressed optimism that the summit would provide participants with valuable knowledge and practical experience to prepare them for leadership and public service.
