Oyedepo Condemns Killings, Says He Will Pray Against Killers, Not for Them

Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has strongly condemned the recent wave of killings in parts of Nigeria, declaring that he would pray against those responsible rather than pray for them. Speaking during a church service following the July 27 attack in Kaduna that reportedly claimed at least 30 lives, including women and children, the cleric described the perpetrators and their sponsors as "destructive agents" whose actions would attract divine judgement.

Oyedepo rejected suggestions that Christians should pray for the attackers, insisting that those responsible for massacring innocent people should face God's judgement. He said he could not pray for individuals who slaughter innocent citizens, adding that he would instead pray against them, their households and their generations. He also alleged that the killings were being sponsored, arguing that the pattern of attacks pointed to organised backing.

The bishop questioned what he described as the Federal Government's silence over the continued bloodshed, saying he was yet to hear an official statement condemning the latest attack. He expressed concern that the repeated killings suggested that the value of human life was diminishing, asking why decisive action had not been taken to halt the violence.

Oyedepo further declared what he described as a curse on those allegedly financing the attacks, warning that divine judgement would overtake every sponsor of violence in Nigeria. He said he had remained silent for a long time but believed the time had come to speak out against the persistent bloodshed, expressing confidence that justice would ultimately prevail.

The cleric also announced a seven-day prayer programme for members of the church and Christians nationwide, urging believers to seek divine intervention for peace, security and an end to the killings across the country. He maintained that while prayers for the nation would continue, those responsible for the violence must be held accountable.
