Oyebanji’s Ekiti Victory Will Be Repeated in Osun — Oyintiloye
APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye says Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s Ekiti re-election victory will inspire the party’s success in the Osun governorship election, attributing the win to good governance.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has said the victory recorded by Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, in Saturday’s governorship election will be replicated in Osun during the August 15, 2026 governorship poll.
Oyintiloye, who spoke with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, described Oyebanji’s re-election as a well-deserved victory, attributing the outcome to the governor’s performance, leadership style and the confidence of Ekiti residents.
The APC stalwart said the result of the election demonstrated strong public support for the governor’s administration, adding that the margin of victory reflected voters’ endorsement of policies focused on development, inclusiveness and improved governance.
According to him, the outcome of the Ekiti election offers lessons for political actors in Osun ahead of the forthcoming governorship contest.
“It is a clear lesson for us in Osun that teamwork, dedication and collective responsibility are indispensable for electoral success,” Oyintiloye said.
He expressed confidence that the APC would build on the momentum from Ekiti and achieve victory in Osun, stressing that effective organisation and unity among party members would be crucial.
Oyintiloye also praised the APC National Working Committee led by National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, for what he described as strategic leadership that has strengthened the party’s structures nationwide.
He further acknowledged the contributions of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, saying his continued engagement with party members and stakeholders had helped sustain the party in the state.
The APC chieftain said Oyetola’s efforts since the 2022 Osun governorship election had contributed to rebuilding confidence among party supporters and improving internal coordination.
Oyintiloye urged APC members in Osun to remain united and focused as preparations intensify for the 2026 governorship election.
He maintained that the Ekiti result showed that voters would support leaders with visible achievements and policies that positively impact their communities.
The Osun governorship election is expected to be a major political contest, with parties already positioning themselves ahead of the August 15 poll.
