INEC Omits Four Parties from Bauchi 2027 Governorship Election List
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has excluded governorship candidates of four political parties from its final list for the 2027 Bauchi State election, leaving 15 candidates on the published register. The commission did not state the reasons for omitting the affected parties.
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has omitted governorship candidates of four political parties from its final list for the February 6, 2027, governorship election in Bauchi State.
The affected parties are the Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Action Alliance (AA) and Accord Party, whose candidates and running mates were absent from the final list published on the commission’s official website on Saturday.
The publication contains 15 governorship candidates and their running mates seeking to succeed Governor Bala Mohammed.
The candidates include Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Farouk Mustapha as his running mate, and Adamu Usman Ahmed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), paired with Alin Bababa Abdulkadir.
The African Democratic Congress ADC will field Halliru Dauda Jika, with Samaila Mohammed Kabir as running mate, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) will be represented by Yakubu Adamu and Babamaji Mahmood.
Other candidates on the list are Abdullahi Adamu of the African Action Congress (AAC), Yunusa Shehu Jinda of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Naziru Usman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Kabiru Abdulhamid Shuwa of the Action Peoples Party (APP).
The Labour Party (LP) will contest through Idris Aliyu Muhammad, while Kashim Ibrahim Muhammad represents the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Haruna Muhammad Ningi of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Muhammad Muhammad Zaharaddin of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) are also on the list.
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) will field Shehu Umar Buba, while Aliyu Umar A.G. represents the Young Progressive Party (YPP). Lami BabaGeidam is the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The four omitted parties had earlier submitted their candidates and running mates to the commission. The SDP nominated Abdullahi Yakubu, with Yahaya Abubakar Maikobi as running mate, while the NNPP submitted Ahmed Shuaibu and Ismail Zailani.
The Action Alliance nominated Musa Zubairu, with Shehu Buba as running mate, while the Accord Party presented Mohd Aminu Bauchin Bauchi and Daniel Meshack.
INEC did not provide specific reasons for excluding the four parties from the final publication. It was also unclear whether the omissions resulted from non-compliance with electoral requirements or other factors.
The development comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections, with the final candidate lists determining the contestants officially published by the electoral commission for the respective state governorship polls.
